Frequently Asked Questions

You've got questions. We've got answers. Contact us if you have a question that isn't listed here.

We can't wait to host you!

What if there is inclement weather during the day I've booked my picnic?

If rain, snow, excessive heat, or other weather conditions are not conducive to having a picnic, we are happy to work with you to move your event indoors or reschedule without a fee. If you've purchased a food add-on and it is under 48 hours before your event, that is  non-refundable, however, we will happily meet up with you to deliver the food you've purchased.

While we will be monitoring weather conditions ourselves, please notify us at least 4 hours before your scheduled start if you would like to move/reschedule.

Why is there an extra fee to book in a park?

Many Delaware parks require permits to host events in their parks. This ensures that there will not be multiple events taking place simultaneously or that maintenance (lawn mowing, watering, etc) will not take place during your picnic.

Can I bring alcohol to the picnic?

Most Delaware parks do not allow alcohol. We are not liable if you bring alcohol to the park against guidelines. Of course, if we are hosting you and your guests in a private location, you are welcome to do as you please.

Why am I being charged a cleaning fee?

The cleaning fee is refunded to you as long as all items are returned to us undamaged. You will receive this deposit back within 7 days after your event, provided there is no damage. The fee is $75 for adults-only events and $100 for events with children under 12.

Will you travel to me?

Yes, we will travel to your private location. All picnics outside of New Castle County, DE will be charged a fee of $3.50/mile away from Bear, Delaware.

If you'd like to host a picnic in a public space outside of our standard locations, we will be happy to coordinate the permitting process with the appropriate governing entity for a fee.  Please contact us for details before booking.

I booked, but the date I chose no longer works for me. What can I do?

For non-weather related cancellations, we are happy to reschedule as long as you provide 7 calendar days' notice. With under 7 days notice, there is a rescheduling fee of $30.

I booked a picnic in a public park, paid the permit fee, but had to move the event due to weather. What now?

Park permit fees are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another event, subject to the park's availability. If you'd like, we would be happy to coordinate with the park to find an alternate date for your picnic. If you'd instead like to move your event indoors for the same day, that is fine, but the park permit fee is non-refundable. We're happy to book a second picnic for you on the rescheduled date!

What does my event include?

Please visit the "Services" page to see a list of inclusions.

How many people do you accomodate?

For the picnic package, at this time we can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. If you'd like to host a larger event, please reach out to us for a quote on a custom package.

The sleepover package will accommodate a maximum of 6 guests.

I'd like to have a custom theme for my picnic. Is that possible?

Harp and Hare is happy to work with you on any custom ideas you have. We will require at least 2 weeks notice prior to your start date to make this happen!

I already have a table/chairs, but I'd like you to decorate. What now?

Generally, tablescaping packages are about half-off of our traditional picnic packages, with a minimum charge of $150.
